Rosie Mariani, Board Member, Past Treasurer 2021-2023Rosie has been an elder caregiver for 12 years. Caregiving started as part time work and she found out fairly quickly that it was work she loved and was good at. After a few years, she became one of the “go-to” caregivers for end of life caregiving calls. Rosie is, "just more comfortable around the 'circle of Life' " and as a senior caregiver, she has been a regular ambassador for end of life discussions.
Rosie was a hospice respite volunteer, and currently is part of the Dying Vigil team through Hospice of the Foothills. Her death care trainings include courses related to EOL issues, including Deathwalker training with Zenith Virago, and Doula training with Full Circle. Rosie's board experience includes: Ready Springs School Board (from 2002-2010) and as president of the Rough and Ready Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary (from 2005-2013) . The school board was a very rigid board position, but she learned about what makes a great board member even within such strict guidelines: among other things, the ability to listen, the ability to recognize strengths in individual members, the importance of speaking in your own voice and the value of asking questions. The Ladies Auxiliary was a much more active position, part conductor and part work-horse. She was involved in event creation, fundraising and public service. "It was great fun for many years, and I learned I do have leadership skills above and beyond my natural ability to “get along with anyone”. Other hobbies and passions: Photography, scrapbooking and quilting. |
