NANDI SZABO, M.A., ADTR, Co-Founder of Full Circle of Living and Dying
Expressive Art Therapist, college professor, End-of-Life Doula Care, Death Midwife, wellness practitioner, artist, dancer, and someone who practices the creative art of living. Nandi provides individuals and groups an energetic and integrated healing practice using art, movement, music, writing and drama, in a safe environment which focuses on what seeks expression during times of change, transitions and endings, particularly end of life issues.
"With sincere grace and compassion, I offer my service to assist the dying and their family and friends in finding meaning and value in their unique experience of death and dying...at bedside or at my studio. In providing a paradigm that recognizes the importance of caring, compassionate and loving support through loss and grief, going beyond verbal interaction I use the Creative Art Therapies, CAT, which is also referred to an Expressive Arts Therapy. Supplementing verbal counseling are movement, and music, writing, and photography interventions. My work with cancer patients at Sutter Hospital in Sacramento, CA for the last 20 years has directed me to take Expressive Arts Therapy into palliative and hospice care. I have introduced the important role creativity plays in living a meaningful life as well as moving consciously into the end of life transition."
With a Masters degree in Expressive Arts Therapy, Nandi combines her clinical training in psychology with firsthand knowledge of the arts and their potential for holistic healing of the mind, body, spirit. She teaches "The Psychology of Death and Dying", "The Psychology of Creativity", "Therapeutic use of the Arts" and "The Hero's Journey" at Sacramento City College. She is also a founding member of Full Circle Living & Dying Collective in Grass Valley, CA.
