A Beautiful Donation Supports the Work of Full Circle of Living and Dying
Massage Table Donation! We are ever so surprised and thankful to receive this special donation for our After Death Care Work. In our recent newsletter we put out request for a "no-longer-needed" massage table. Local resident Cathe Fish contacted us with a perfect table. It belonged to her daughter Kirsten who died in 2013. Kristen studied massage at Phillips school of massage and was an instructor at Sierra College, Nevada County campus. Cathe has a deep appreciation for the end-of-life work of Full Circle of Living and Dying. She knew immediately the donation would be ever so meaningful: The special bodywork Kirsten gave to clients on her table would now be a special place of ceremonial After Death Body Care. THANK YOU KIRSTEN & CATHE!
In our work as After Death Care Midwives and Doulas, we sometimes loan a massage table to families. Its purpose is to serve as a place for the family to do ceremonial washing, body care, and dressing of the body. When this process is complete, the table may be used as a place for the body to lie in honor (lie in state) in the home for visitation or home vigil. The body may lie in honor for 1-3 days. Typically, the table is draped and prepared with flowers, greenery, mementos - any items the family and community wants as remembrance of the loved one.
