Full Circle of Living and Dying Presents Upcoming Workshop :

Let’s create a dialogue about death and begin a writing practice
In our country, there exists a pervasive death-phobic culture. This death-phobia is characterized by avoidance, fear, and discomfort surrounding discussions of mortality, death, dying and grief. In our youth, many of us were shielded from the topic of death, leading to a lack of preparation and understanding when faced with the death of someone we knew. This shielding and avoidance have created an environment where conversations about death are considered taboo or morbid.
We are reluctant to engage in planning for our end-of-life care and talk to our families about what we would like at our death. This fear and avoidance led to a reluctance to engage in end-of-life planning or address the emotional aspects of loss and grief.
What if, one day, you came across a box stored away for who knows how long, containing a letter written to you from a beloved person who is now deceased. Imagine re-reading this letter after all these years and feeling the memories flow. This now becomes a cherished letter. The words have new meaning. What an unexpected gift!
Now Imagine yourself writing a letter to your favorite people. What would you want to say that they may cherish and save forever after you're gone?
This workshop will provide a safe space to begin open dialogue on the subject of death. It offers participants an opportunity to explore how we can shift from avoidance to acceptance of our inevitable mortality. During the session, we'll reflect on our attitudes toward end-of-life and death. We each will write a letter of love addressed to ourselves, a family member, a friend, or someone who has died.
In this, we will confront our fear, discomfort and avoidance surrounding death.
Through this process, we offer the possibility to tap into our deepest emotions, fostering personal growth and potentially facilitating meaningful connections with those who have journeyed alongside us in life.
