In 2016 my son-in-law and I were working on the genealogy website FamilySearch building my family tree. We added the name of my uncle who disappeared in the 1970's and never returned into contact with my family. Within a very short time we got a hit from Find A Grave. I had never heard of this site. A match was found for someone matching my uncle's name to a cemetery in Santa Cruz, CA. Because we lost contact with my uncle, we never knew where he might be living or if he died. I spent several additional months contacting not only the cemetery, but Santa Cruz county records department and eventually was able to confirm the match was indeed my uncle. It was an amazing few months of researching and bringing a confirmation to my family. Much gratitude to Find A Grave and all the cemetery volunteers who have taken the time to upload this data base!
